The Centre for Advanced and Applied Research (CAAR Scholars) has successfully held the orientation for its 2026 Fellowship Cohort, officially welcoming selected Fellows into a programme focused on research excellence, professional development, collaboration, and capacity building. The orientation brought together Fellows from different countries, including Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Cameroon, India, Pakistan, the UK, the USA, Italy, and other countries, reflecting the fellowship’s growing international reach and commitment to strengthening research capacity across Africa and beyond. The session provided an opportunity to welcome the new Fellows, introduce them to the fellowship journey, and highlight the values and habits required to become effective researchers. A key highlight was an address by Prof. Jacob Nunoo, Ph.D., Advisor to CAAR Scholars and Professor of Applied Economics at the University of Cape Coast (UCC). He reminded the Fellows that “Fellowship does not produce researchers; habits do,” emphasising the importance of consistency, discipline, and continuous learning in building a successful research career. CAAR Scholars also acknowledges the dedicated efforts of its leadership and administration, under the leadership of Barrister Mfah Amadu, Founder and Executive Director, alongside James Kwame Ahiabu, Co-Founder, and Rebecca Hughes, International Coordinator, as well as the wider team and facilitators whose planning, coordination, and commitment contributed to the successful organisation of the orientation. The successful completion of the orientation marks the beginning of an exciting journey for the 2026 Fellows as they prepare to develop their research skills, engage in collaborative learning, and contribute to meaningful research and development initiatives. CAAR Scholars congratulates all selected Fellows and warmly welcomes them to the Class of 2026. The journey towards Activating Greatness has officially begun.
